Oh snap! I'm cool ^-^

Thanks to my Sensei I now *somewhat* know the main Hirigana table, god if I know what it means but hell now I can at least pronounce what people are talking in my parties with JP members.

I only know a few words and how to respond, and a few simple things like Weather, Can I borrow ___ Please?, What is your Age/Name and god I can count to 10!

Ichi
ni
san
yon
go
roku
nana
hachi
ku
ju
*I can't input any JP characters on my computer I need to ask Neko how to do that...*

The thought came to me today that I bet Japanese children are learning what I am...makes me feel like such a newbie lol. But I have faith that I am doing my best and will soon know the Hirigana table by heart then I can move onto the other forms of JP and try to master Speaking Hiragana and learning what that string of text I can read means.

Thats the only thing about learning a language learning how to read is the easy part, but understanding what your reading is another thing. You can teach anyone how to say Five....but how do they know what five means? the only way is the hard way by remembering! wich is where I'm gonna get stuck with my poor memory.

But after only a month of classes I can read Hiragana ^-^;; wether this is good or not I don't know, but if any of you can speak Japanese and read this give me some feedback on my progress.

Well... lol. You ARE learning things little kids are. The best thing to do a few months down there road is to get a hold of the JP POL CD. Don't need the FFXI, just the POL. That will boot you up to the JP servers and launch the JP POL instead. (Google for walkthroughs as to how to install it.)

I say a few months because EVERYTHING will be in Japanese... your menus, battle spam, etc. So once you feel comfortable reading hiragana/katakana, you can try this. Having to constantly look at JP text is gonna make you learn it a lot quicker. I know it helped me. :)

Or I think the newest FFXI Windower lets you type in Japanese. But that's only typing, everything else is English menu. So look around and figure out what's best for you.

And good luck, everyone has to start somewhere.
